March 26, 1971 is not just a date in our history but it is the birthday of our nation. On that day, the people of Bangladesh stood up and declared that no more oppression, we will decide our own future.
The night before, on March 25, the Pakistani army carried out a brutal attack in Dhaka and across the country. Thousands of innocent people were killed. But from that dark night came the light of freedom. In Chittagong, Major Ziaur Rahman’s strong voice announced our independence over the radio. His words “We Revolt” were not just military orders. They were the call of a nation rising to protect its dignity and existence.
From that moment, the Liberation War began. Students, farmers, workers, soldiers, and ordinary people all joined together. It was not a war given to us by outsiders, it was our own struggle, born from the courage and sacrifice of our people.
March 26 reminds us that independence is never a gift. It is earned through unity, resistance, and sacrifice. It teaches us that no oppressive power can last forever, because the strength of the people is greater than any army.
Today, we are facing new challenges like political, economic, and global, we must remember the lesson of March 26. Our greatest strength lies in our unity and our love for Bangladesh.
Let us honor those who gave their lives, those who fought with courage, and those who dreamed of a free Bangladesh. And let us carry forward that spirit of resistance and dignity, so that our independence remains strong for generations to come.
March 26 is not only a day of memory, but it is a day of inspiration, a day of national awakening.
